| G. E. Kincaid allegedly made his trip into the Grand Canyon, around October of 1908. In the 1909 "Gazette" article he states that the "cave" site is " located on government land and no visitor will be allowed there under penalty of trespass". I had wondered what he meant by "government land", considering Grand Canyon National Park had not yet been established. The map below (a federal government map of 1907) shows that the location was within the newly established "Grand Canyon National Monument" and clearly "on government land" as Kincaid stated. I realize that I have not yet given the exact location of the "cave". I can say, however, that in 1908 it was located within the boundaries of "Grand Canyon National Monument" shown on the map below. |
